Having a new baby brings about a lot of questions. One of those questions were, “what’s a typical 3-month-old baby’s schedule?” Here’s what our schedule was like at 3 months.
As a new mom, I had no idea what was considered “normal” behavior for my 3-month-old.
Is she eating too much? Is she sleeping too much? Is her poop supposed to be this color?
I had no idea!
A quick Google search assured me that everything was completely fine. It’s easy for us to work ourselves up about things that shouldn’t be an issue.
It’s also hard to remember the last time you fed them. And if you’re breastfeeding you can never remember if they ate on the left or right side last!
Thanks to the baby tracker app I’m able to keep our lives much more organized.
This app tracks when she sleeps, eats, has her diaper changed and so much more.
I’d be lost without it!
As she gets older her routine changes. But here is what a typical day looks like in my household with a 3-month-old.
8am-9am:
We wake up and lay in the bed. I breastfeed her usually in a side-lying position.
After that, I burp her and change her diaper. I get her clothes ready the night before so I can stay in bed and relax for as long as possible before it’s time to get our day started.
9am-11am:
She lays on her playmat for about 30-45 minutes while I eat breakfast and take a shower.
This is when her dad gets some alone time with her.
She does about 1 traumatizing minute of tummy time before I pick her up to snuggle.
We mostly spend this time playing together until she’s ready for another nap.

11am-12pm:
This is her nap time.
She eats again and has another diaper change.
After that, I put her in her swing for a supervised nap. She falls asleep quickly and I’m able to work on my blog.
She usually sleeps for about an hour to an hour and a half.
12pm-2pm:
Once she wakes up she eats and gets her diaper changed.
She either hangs out in her bouncer for about 10 minutes or gets in her baby carrier while I clean.
Depending on the weather we will play outside or hang out in her room.
2pm-3pm:
By now it’s time for her second nap. She only stays awake for 2 hours maximum.
I put her back in the swing so she can nap and I use this time to work on my blog again.
3pm-5pm:
After her nap, she eats again and has another diaper change.
She might get back in her bouncer while I cook dinner or play with her dad again.
This is family time so we unplug, turn the tv off, and enjoy each other’s company.
We either take turns eating while one of us holds her or she plays in her bouncer.
5pm-5:30pm:
During this time she usually takes a quick cat nap for about 20-30 minutes.
If we skip this nap she gets incredibly fussy and goes to bed way too early.
5:30pm-8:30pm:
Once she wakes up I feed her every hour until bedtime so she gets more full and sleeps better at night.
We play or read a book until bath time which is at 8 pm.
If it’s bath night (Sunday’s and Thursday’s) my husband will do that for some more quality time with her.
If it isn’t bath night I’ll give her a warm wipe down while the lights are dim and white noise is playing.
She gets in her pajamas, eats again, and goes to bed at 8:30 pm.

8:30pm-10pm:
During this time my husband and I chit chat and catch up with each other.
Sometimes we use this time to get caught up on work we didn’t finish throughout the day.
I dream feed her when I go to bed at 10 pm and she’s sound asleep for another 3 hours.
Overnight:
After that, she wakes up every 2 hours like clockwork.
She eats from one side, gets a diaper change, and then eats on the other side before going back to bed.
To keep her awake for feedings that don’t involve a diaper change I tickle her feet or rub a baby wipe along her hairline.
She wakes up around 8 am and our day starts again!
Famous last words…
This is the routine that works for us at 3 months.
Starting your own business while being a mother is hard at any stage. Of course, the priority is always your family which sometimes means your business doesn’t get as much attention.
Make time when you can to do the work and remember your business goals to keep you motivated.
